If you take finished project photos of yourself using a timer or remote, here’s a little tip I picked up recently for making sure your camera’s focus is on you and not something in back of/behind you:
Set your tripod up. Figure out where you are going to stand, and take a few test shots to make sure you are in the frame the way you want to be. Somehow mark the floor or ground where you are standing. (It could be something simple like a rock or Post-It note.) Now walk to the tripod and take the camera off. Walk back over to the marked spot on the ground and focus on the tripod. Place the camera back on the tripod. As long as you standing still in the spot you marked before your photos should be in focus.
